"It sounds like a good night," he allowed, ignoring the monsters he saw creeping in on the edges of his vision. Creeping, three-eyed creatures with flashing claws and cackling laughs. He knew they weren't real. Probably.
He lay there, eyes open, breathing as evenly as if he were deeply sleeping, waiting and watching her fall asleep. He didn't feel remotely tired, though he knew he should be after all the time he hadn't slept. Perhaps when she was asleep he'd go look at Medusa's body, see if there was anything more he could do to improve it.
