Stein chuckled. "Stare at the candle," he said in a low, soothing voice. "Relax, and try to just let whatever thoughts you have move through your mind without really looking at them. Just stare at the candle, and watch the flame flicker. Let it fill your vision."
He continued to talk in low, hypnotic tones, hoping that Junpei was actually susceptible to hypnosis at all. A lot of people probably weren't, in Stein's presence, because they were nervous. And Stein well knew that some people weren't susceptible at all - he certainly wasn't. He didn't have the personality type.
