Stein glanced at Birkin sidelong, though he didn't take his eyes off of the creature. He wasn't planning on treating it cavalierly. Birkin might be like him, but that only meant he probably wasn't trustworthy. It was possible this was some kind of trap, and he didn't want to get bitten either out of carelessness or treachery.
"Well, if you were on my world I'd probably have to snap your neck for that," he said thoughtfully, running his fingers over the taste buds. "But it's not my world. Not my problem."
